The car made by the people, for the people.
In 2007, after fifty years, an all-Italian legend made a comeback: Fiat 500.
Like its original, the new 500 moved the cheerful, catchy, optimistic character of the Italian people worldwide.
Fiat launched a challenge for creating and engineering the new 500 calling the people to design it. On 500 wants you, the social network opened 500 days before the international launch, 500 enthusiasts shared their expectations, suggestions and ideas for the new car.
The excitement and contributions, analysed and used to design the new model, outclassed all expectations: on 4 July 2007, the arrival of the new 500, the car made by the people, for the people, was celebrated worldwide.
Since then, 500 has won over scores of people - and still does. Today, on its third birthday, over 500,000 motorists are enjoying its direct, sincere, spontaneous character.
On the official front, the car has taken some of the most prestigious awards and acknowledgements in the auto sector: "EuroCarBody 2007", "Auto Europa 2008", "Car of the Year 2008" and "2009 Design Car of the Year".
Still, the most important award for 500 is the passion that more and more people are sharing driving it round the world and online.
